Yesterday I read a lovely anniversary tribute from our incredible Mrs. International 2012, Sarah Bazey to her husband Joe. Today I saw a post on Twitter from another person about how a significant other should be one's biggest supporter during pageant season. These two things inspired me to write today.
There is a cute little joke, if you will, that goes around the Mrs. pageant camps that our husbands are our most necessary accessory. Well, obviously if you are competing as a Mrs. a husband is necessary, but they are far more than an accessory! Our husbands, mine in particular, are such an integral part of being an effective title holder! I am on the road making appearances on an almost daily basis. I take what I do very seriously and work hard to further the causes of not only St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, The American Heart Association and The International Pageant System, but any and all charities that can benefit from my time, name and/or title. Without a loving, caring, giving and UNDERSTANDING husband I couldn't do even half of what I do! I am praised often for being so dedicated, sacrificing and giving so much, but he deserves much of this credit and really gets little to none. Edward sacrifices not only his time with me, but our time together as a family with my wonderful bonus son, Aidan. He encourages me to do all I can...and has done so for several years now. He sits back, never complains, always helps and always loves...unconditionally. He steps out of the way when someone wants a picture with me, often taking it for them. He holds my purse so much we sometimes forget that it's mine and not his! He stands by my side or fades into the background always at the exact right moment. He has never once, not once uttered a complaint about anything associated with what I do. Instead he proudly supports, endorses, encourages, gets up at 4 to get me to the airport, spends countless days/night without me and still loves...unconditionally.
In 8 days we will celebrate our wedding anniversary. We actually get to spend a few days together! However, if we couldn't because I had obligations, he would be ok with that as well. So, if I'm a good titleholder it is only because I have a great man on my side! I love you Sweetheart. Happy early anniversary and thank you for all you do, all you give and all you sacrifice so that I can pursue my dreams and achieve my goals!
